33. Visit a Smithsonian
My parents were visiting last weekend and so we decided to take a trip to D.C. and do some sightseeing. They hadn't been to D.C. in at least 10 years so they were eager to see everything again. It was a beautiful sunny day and we wandered around looking at all the different monuments etc. We visited the Lincoln Memorial, the WWII memorial, the Washington Monument and the Holocaust Museum. We also visited the Smithsonian Museum of American History. It was really cool to see some of the stuff they have on display. My favorite exhibit was the First Ladies exhibit. They have some of the First Ladies ballgowns on display as well as some other articles of clothing/jewelery etc from former First Ladies. Right next to the First Ladies exhibit, is another exhibit dedicated solely to the inauguration of President Obama. The exhibit was a photography only exhibit of the inaugural celebrations. Since I'm partial to photography it was really cool to see some of the photos taken that day, and see different artists interpretations of something I'd watched on TV. I wish we had more time to see some of the other Smithsonians but there is just so much to see!! Maybe next time...
